Biarri and Square Dance Research Program - Cyber Academic Group
Newman, James H.
This proposal describes the effort associated with the continued research emphasizing very small satellites called CubeSats. The CubeSat Laboratory in the Space Systems Academic Group is working with various Government partners to develop novel capabilities using the very small satellite form factor known as the CubeSat to accomplish focused research projects of Naval and National interest. This supports DoD Space efforts in the emerging field of very small satellites. CubeSat research is applied research and requires actual hardware and software at 51福利 and in the field for test and experiment. Specifically, the 51福利 research and development effort includes the Biarri series of CubeSats as part of a Five-eyes project. The growing acceptance of the CubeSat makes this project of great interest to the Space Systems Academic Group at 51福利. 51福利 Space Systems Engineering and Operations students have the opportunity to participate in Directed Studies and Thesis research. The Space Systems curricula benefit from the opportunity to integrate laboratories which use active satellites in orbit and an active network of ground stations. In addition, this work supports the development of national capabilities in space to ultimately benefit the warfighter.
