In response to the 2024 WSCUC special visit report, the 51¸£Àû (51¸£Àû) President has established a standing Accreditation and Assessment Steering committee to advise and guide the President and other members of 51¸£Àû's leadership for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive assessment program. The committee’s efforts will center on coordinating and guiding the assessment and accreditation process across the university, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, identifying best practices, determining the best approaches for the campus, and encouraging and promoting their adoption by all academic departments.

Accreditation & Assessment Steering Committee (A2SC)

The Accreditation Steering Committee (A2SC) is a standing committee responsible for guiding the University through Accreditation & Assessment processes.

The Accreditation & Assessment Steering committee is responsible for organizing and coordinating the self-evaluation process and for ensuring that appropriate progress is made (including monitoring the work from the responsible parties). In addition, it is an important role of the committee to ensure that evidence is shared within the institution and that relevant internal stakeholders, who have knowledge of data and who can contribute to the analysis of data and evidence, are involved in the process as appropriate.  The A2SC calls upon the talents and experience of the faculty and staff as needed, to ensure that all relevant perspectives are considered and benefitted from.

There are a number of principles that support a successful self-evaluation process. The A2SC:

  • Addresses the accreditation authorities’ standards and requirements
  • Provides content and evidence for the Institutional Self-Evaluation Report
  • Includes institution-set standards for student achievement and learning outcomes
  • Provides and analyze existing evaluation, planning, and improvement data
  • Leads to an assessment, based on analysis of data, of the quality of the institution’s programs and services and its institutional effectiveness as well as the formulation of plans and actions for improvement
  • Involves the institutional stakeholders who have a role in improving institutional quality
